With a radically different approach to authentication, StrongPass is a unique blend of elegance, convenience and security. The authentication is performed using the mobile phone network with no need for the user to remember any passwords. One scan of the QR Code or if your Mac/PC is equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) you can use the the Proximity feature and the user will be authenticated and logged in instantly.

Authomate Components

Authomate StrongPass has five key components: Authomate Browser Extension, Authomate StrongPass App, Authomate AppConnect, Authomate PC/Mac Logon,  and the Authomate Authentication Server.

The browser extension sits inside the browser and detects when the website requires login and password. Once it detects the need for login/password, it shows an icon in the address bar that the user can use to initiate the StrongPass authentication.

The Authomate StrongPass app resides on the user’s smart phone. All user credentials are stored securely on the phone with multiple layers of encryption and once the user decides to use StrongPass for authentication, the relevant login/password are sent to the extension safely and securely.

For applications that require credentials injection but aren't web browsers, we have StrongPass AppConnect. AppConnect enables StrongPass capabilities for Outlook, VPN clients, password protected documents, and a host of other Windows and Mac based applications that require a user to enter credentials.
StrongPass PC/Mac Logon extends StrongPass technology into the realm of Microsoft Windows/Mac OS account access. With StrongPass PC/Mac Logon installed, a user can log into their computer or change their account password.

The Authomate server acts as the glue and gatekeeper for the complete out-of-band authentication process. The Server plays a key role in securely communicating the user credentials to and from the StrongPass App to the browser extension, PC/MAC Logon, and AppConnect supported applications.

How It Works

With Proximity

  1. The user visits a website login page with their browser.
  2. The browser extension activates the  Authomate icon in the browser toolbar and begins transmitting Bluetooth.
  3. The user unlocks the StrongPass app on their phone using their passcode.
  4. The StrongPass app receives the Bluetooth request and contacts the Authomate Authentication Server to get details of the login request.
  5. The StrongPass app looks up this site in the app’s secure database, and if credentials are found, prompts the user to confirm the login request.
  6. If this site is not in the  StrongPass app’s secure database, the user can create a new site by entering the login credentials in the app.
  7. Once the user confirms the login request or finishes entering new login credentials, the StrongPass app encrypts the credentials and sends them to the browser extension via the Authomate Authentication Server.
  8. The browser extension then populates the login page with the user credentials and submits the page to the website.

Without Proximity

  1. The user goes to the login page of the website they are trying to access.
  2. The browser extension activates the Authomate Icon in the browser toolbar.
  3. The user clicks on the Authomate icon in the browser toolbar.
  4. The browser extension presents the QR Code to the user.
  5. The user unlocks the StrongPass app on their phone using their passcode.
  6. The user scans the QR Code using the StrongPass app.
  7. If the credentials are not in the StrongPass app secure database, the app prompts the user to provide the credentials on the smartphone and stores them in the local secure database.
  8. The StrongPass app encrypts the credentials and sends them to the browser extension through the Authomate Authentication Server.
  9. The browser extension then populates the login page with the user credentials and submits the page to the website.
